When KIRO 7 [COX] recently announced that Jay O’Connor, the new program guru fresh from out-of-town, had decided to exclude Pat O’Day from their upcoming TV hydroplane broadcasts [cost-cutting which the station calls an improvement], KIRO FM 97.3 [Bonneville] signed O’Day to a special Seafair hydro race report for radio.
Info at this time is: the program will be a one-hour retrospective of hydro race history. We were hoping for more, but radio rights to the race are in the hands of Sandusky and will be heard by very few on 1150 KKNW.

TO ALL MY WONDERFUL FRIENDS.
Your outpouring over my “Seafair outage” has been touching, kind, thrilling, emotional, heart warming, joyous, and loving. I CAN NEVER THANK YOU’ALL ENOUGH. Where it all goes from here? I’ve agreed with Ron and Don on KIRO FM (97.3) to do a special Hydros/Seafairs past, kind of thing on race weekend. It’s an opportunity for me to pay my dues in some way for the joys afforded us over all the years by Seafair and the boats.
AND AGAIN! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. I’M SUCH A LUCKY GUY!

Pat.

Bob Robertson is now doing play-by-play for Spokane Indians baseball. The broadcasts can be heard on 1510 KGA http://player.tritondigital.com/3151 Robertson was the sportscaster for Tacoma Cubs-Tigers baseball for many years. Tacoma’s [Rainiers] play-by-play announcer, since 1999 is Mike Curto. Games are heard in T-town on 850 KHHO.

Off the beaten path…
Andy Barber (KING 1100/KHIT Bremerton-Seattle/KTNQ – Los Angeles…) laments he has now been off-the-air for 15 months. On the beach with thousands of great radio personalities, Barber has been busy doing odd jobs, unrelated to the odd job of radio broadcasting. Barber lives in Tulsa, OK.
