I was puzzled by the statement accompanying the FCC’s differral of the original application grant until I examined the history card of KBAM 1270 Longview. That station commenced operation as a daytimer on 1220 & their change to 1270 opened up this frequency regionally. 1220 was a poor choice for both stations due to the necessity of protecting 50 kW blowtorch CKDA Victoria (now CKXM 91.3). I never understood why the FCC licensed this frequency. Ditto flea-powered daytimer KURB/KKNW 150 Mountlake Terrace, that fought all day with an overbearing signal from KGA Spokane
