Sea-Tac broadcasting pioneer Carl Haymond’s last stand & he didn’t even see it through to completion. It appears 1460 never actually operated with the KCDI call letters. An attempted sale to David Segal in 1962 fell through. David Segal would shortly purchase KTW 1250 from First Presbyterian Church, which his company operated in the mid-60’s until sale to SRO

The two highlights of those history cards. The names of radio pioneers keep cropping up.

Another interesting annotation takes place in 1972 just around the time KYAC-FM 96.5 began: their application to waiver the rules to allow the AM & FM to simulcast were dismissed by the FCC. However, as an avid listener I recall they DID simulcast for a few years & after sunset sign-off on 1460, the FM switched to jazz. They may have been doing this while the application is pending as the Commission’s decision doesn’t come down until ’74. At the time, I made the mistaken assumption that the rules preventing AM/FM simulcast didn’t apply to daytimers
