This interesting history reveals KBRO first sought out 1230 instead of 1490 which would have been a poor choice considering use of 1220 first in Centralia, then Renton & Auburn. The FCC expressed concerns about interference on 1490 as that frequency was gaining other occupants nearby (KLOG for example) KBRO then appears to compete with KTNT for 1400 but was denied. In 1951, a Puyallip-based group challenged KBRO for use of 1490 but was denied. KBRO however managed to survive as a Bremerton broadcaster, whereas short-lived daytimer KGIB 1540 (’48-51) was not
