Mike Cherry reports: Apparently Salem Comms is swapping silent KKOL 1300 for KPAM 860 Portland which it’s been operating as an LMA with it’s newest owner Tron Dinh Do’s Intelli LLC who, in turn, bought the station from Pamplin. KKOL’s STA is due to loss of their transmitter site due to complex interference issues. Salem HAD planned to ‘tri-plex’ KKOL with it’s co-owned KLFE 1590 & KNTS 1680. Their application to the FCC was for 50 kW days & 3.2 kW nights for this site. However, once this swap is approved in Washington, it’s unclear what the future holds for KKOL or whether it even returns to air. There isn’t exactly a surplus of cheap real estate in the region on which to build a multi-tower array, which leaves me skeptical, unless part of this agreement will include transmission from the Salem site on Bainbridge Island
