Under KIRO 710 listing, it reads “music-conversation mid-days” – I’m surprised KIRO was airing any music at all by 1977. I would have though it was all talk & network features outside of drive-time news blocks

Kiro had Jim French in the morning playing music for several years in the 70s, but 1977 does seem late. I was at Kbfw, an SRO station, during most of the Kuuu and Kzok years. When they had Kzok take over Kuuu, the Kuuu PD and operations guy….Duff Johnson…..was sent to Bellingham to be the GM for about a year.

Jim French was definitely gone from KIRO by ’77 I checked back through some the skeds we have posted here but couldn’t find any program listings for that year. The closest I could find was a ’74 sked & on it, Jim French is hosting mid-days at KVI. On that sked, it certainly appears that KIRO still included plenty of music in it’s variety of programs. Going by the summarized station descriptions, it still appears to me that sometime in the mid-70’s, KIRO dropped music except for overnights.
