Wally Nelskog set a major precedent with his challenge to the monopolized ‘clear channels’. This paved the way for an overhaul of usage of previously off-limits AM frequencies. It allowed numerous daytimers, such as Steven Smith’s 930 KBFW, to operate at night albeit with reduced power. Unfortunately, the FCC went overboard opening up the band more, but that will be the subject of future writings.
