The church has taken control of 1180 KLAY and lo and behold, miracle of miracles, the sound quality is much improved. Listening in the late evening as I drove down I-5 through Tacoma, I didn’t hear the interference of distant stations, the hum or hiss of KLAY, but instead, crystal clear audio, clear as a bell! And somewhere, an angel got its wings. The Catholic church can afford to pay an engineer to tweak the equipment to get the proper sound. The FM translator is also up and running. The Sacred Heart website tells us so. I will check that later today when I drive up to Tacoma. What might have been at the Clay Huntington station with an FM signal and a few dollars more…we will never know. 1180 now simulcasts KBLE 1050, the standard Catholic church broadcasts of the Sacred Heart network.
