Amanda Grace Signs Off KING 5

FRIDAY – Tonight is my last night on KING5 News. As I sign off, more than anything, I feel overwhelmingly gratitude. You allowed me into your home every night to share what was happening in our community. You were with me through the stories that broke our hearts, the stories that brought us together and the stories that made our region stronger. You were with me through my pregnancy and as I welcomed my daughter Isla, as she took her first steps and said her first words, as my son Louis started preschool then went off to Kindergarten, and as we bought and renovated our forever home. I got to know some of you through this page and many others out in the community, and at every step, I have been blown away by your kindness. You welcomed me to an anchor desk that has been (and still is) occupied by Seattle broadcast legends. It was incredibly intimidating and humbling to be in that position, but your support made it easier.
It was a tough decision to step away from television. Local journalism is something I fiercely believe in and a profession I’ve devoted my life to for 15 years. On top of that, I adore my talented colleagues at KING who are among the best in the business and make every day fun. That said, for many reasons, it’s time for me to take on a new challenge and grow personally and professionally. I am excited about the next chapter in my career and look forward to sharing more soon.
So this is not a goodbye – it’s a thank you. Thank you for watching, for emailing and commenting, for stopping me in the grocery store to say hello. Telling your stories has been the honor of my career.
