Radio Personality Don Imus passes

Retired syndicated radio personality Don Imus has passed away at age 79 having lost the battle with prostate cancer.  He passed away this morning in hospital in College Station TX after arriving Christmas Eve. Don’s legendary career began in Stockton, CA in 1968, from there he moved on to Sacramento, Cleveland & New York before landing syndication deals to air his morning show in multi-markets.  He was first diagnosed with  stage 2 prostate cancer & has been waging battle against it since then. A member of the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame & 4 time Marconi Award winner, one for Network Syndicated Personality & in 1989 the National  Radio Hall of Fame, Don Imus was a philanthropist running his camp for children with cancer, several children’s charities, veteran’s advocacy, & environmental concerns.  Although landing in hot water a few times, Don was a professional broadcaster in every sense of the term & signed off for retirement in 2018. Imus is survived by his wife Deidre, 2 sons, 2 daughters and 2 step-daughters.
