Syndicator Untied Stations has launched a new 3-hour weekly show hosted by legendary DJ Dick Bartley. “Rock & Roll’s Greatest Hits” will focus on the era of that decade as rock took over the airwaves & top 40 charts. The program will be available as of Feb. 24. The new show will also add some hits from the early 70’s. Viewing the playlist, core groups appear to be the Beatles, Donovan, Beach Boys, Supremes, Three Dog Night with plenty of classic Motown, British Invasion & the psychedelic era. It’s a relief to note that programming syndicators still consider music form the 50’s/60’s/70’s & the age demo’s that listen to that music as a viable option for stations who wish to carry this. Unfortunately, I don’t see any Pacific Northwest are stations picking this up. The playlists I viewed make this show a little too rock focused for local MOR/light pop oldies outlet 880 KIXI. However, I’ll be on the watch for this to appear on other US oldies outlets I listen to via streaming.
