April 10, 1983 — Jennifer James eases out of the restrictions placed upon her by a former employer and begins an additional call in for advice show on KIRO, from 9 PM to midnight Fridays, beginning this week.
“I see the Saturday afternoon show as philosophical in nature,” James said, “especially since I initiated the “Inner Cosmos” segment.”
Her Friday show will focus on “strategies for survival” — how to maintain relations with children, spouses, freeway traffic, etc.
She will also look at the messages in country-western songs. Why country-western?
“Because they state quite clearly the presumptions we sometimes have about life,” James said. “Besides, I like country music.”
“Some of it’s not very positive, you know,” she said.
To illustrate, she let slip the song she’s likely to tackle Friday: “Why Don’t You Love Me Like You Used To Do?”
After a session with Jennifer James, old Hank Williams may never be the same.

Positive Broadcasting Inc. has changed KTNT to KPMA. With the new owners, Jerry Dimmitt, talk host, flew the coop. Replacing is Mike Lonergan, from afternoons… Jerry Dimmitt scooted from 1400 to 1360, KAMT (formerly KMO), which had just reintroduced itself to Tacoma listeners as an all-music station… KISW has introduced the weekly Metal Shop at 8 PM Wednesdays, in which Steve Slaton rolls 30 minutes of hard rock… Other weeknights at 8 o’clock on KISW, Slaton features the great eight at eight, a survey of the top eight rock songs of the day.

What ever happened to Jennifer? During this period cited, wasn’t her “day job” at the University of Washington?

Well whadda ya know…I scrolled to the bottom of the column to find that Mike Lonergan got the same “top billing” as Lou Robbins did in another classic Victor S. column! Of course, it was nice of Mr . Stredicke to mention Tacoma radio at all in his Seattle Times column, so I’m not complaining.
