You’ve probably heard the Casey Kasem rant, but here is something quite brutal. William Shatner catches this recording studio producer in his web and eats him alive.

Audio from the Howard Stern show.

Don’t you just love that fake, fawning soft-boiled laughter? You just can’t beat the obsequious squeaking of a starry-eyed second banana.. Vapid and vomit-worthy. This illustrates the best argument against a two-person radio show.

Robin Quivers made money from being a second banana to Howard’s rude and often racist rants. Anything for a buck.

I reluctantly agree with Shatner…this producer dude should have used the first go-round…Shatner is Shatner…he does have a rep as being a pompous ass, so why even play into that?…and yes, Robin is there strictly to stoke the ego of her boss.

    Steven L. Smith says:

This reminds me very much of an old Orson Welles tape with the outtakes where some idiot producer started coaching the master on how to read an ad for Mrs Buckley’s Frozen peas. It is classic and if you have not heard it, check youtube. It is there.

Shatner’s been a working actor for 60 years! I’ll accept any “take” he is satisfied with. Howard and Robin are pretty terrible but much superior to any Seattle morning yuck fest.

      kjrol,

Your phrase, “pretty terrible but much superior”, pretty much illustrates the current bottom-of-the-barrel state of commercial radio.

I love this. I have a .wav file sitting on the desktop of my computer in my editing bay with sound from Braveheart where Longshanks says, “Who is this person who speaks to me as though I needed his advice?” All I have to do is click it and hit the space bar and boom – there ya’ go – get outa’ here.
