KING 5, TEGNA’s NBC affiliate in Seattle, announced today that Julie Wolfe has been named news director, effective June 21st. Wolfe will be responsible for overseeing the station’s news content across all platforms.

Wolfe joins KING 5 from WHAS11, TEGNA’s ABC affiliate in Louisville, KY, where she’s been news director since 2018. During her tenure, Wolfe oversaw the relaunches of Wake Up, NightTeam, The Big 4, and the FOCUS investigative team. Under her leadership, the WHAS11 team has received multiple Emmys®, Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, Associated Press awards, and took home the Kentucky Press Photographers Association Award.

It remains to be seen whether KING 5 will continue to fill positions in the newsroom based on gender and race or whether the station can focus on hiring based on the talent and qualifications of news reporters and crew.

    Louis says:

“It remains to be seen whether KING 5 will continue to fill positions in the newsroom based on gender and race or whether the station can focus on hiring based on the talent and qualifications of news reporters and crew.”

From the EEOC website: “Under the laws enforced by EEOC, it is illegal to discriminate against someone (applicant or employee) because of that person’s race, color, religion, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation, and pregnancy), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information.”

Something about these two statements seem to be in conflict.

    Louis says:

So breaking Federal law and hiring based on race, gender, and sexual orientation is now OK as long as you are the correct race, gender, etc.
Dorothy Bullitt would not recognize the KING 5 of 2021.

The mayor of Chicago has announced that she (a BLACK woman) will make interviews with BLACK journalists a priority.

Let’s just bring back segregation across the board. This is where we are headed, based on the needs of Blacks, who use the term PEOPLE OF COLOR, which sounds to me like COLORED PEOPLE.

You’ve heard of Jim Crow, this is Black Crow. There you have a black, lesbian racist. She has done nothing to stop the black on black crime in Chicago, which is increasing. Who voted for this waste of skin? People need to wake up, especially Whitey.
