Ms Grande was a beauty queen, back in the day…I notice that many “older” media people begin to look for other work, when they think the writing is on the wall!

If anything, she is still beautiful so I doubt it was “the writing on the wall.”

I’m pleased for her having a second career, however, she always did a great job and she will be missed.

A former KIRO employee I know left in 2020 because she was confident she would be “aged out” by management. As looks fade and salaries rise it becomes an insurmountable equation in the visual media. For an industry that prides themselves as justice advocates they certainly do their fair share of discrimination based on age, appearance, and salary.

That says it all. Good looking people who fit the demographic and who agree to low wages, will get hired.

My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting Alison a few weeks ago (a personal outing for each of us). We have enjoyed watching her on KIRO through the years, and wish her all the best at the US DOJ. We will miss seeing her on KIRO, but raise a glass of wine to her continued success. Best wishes Alison!
