One of the topics of the November 15th edition of MEDIA INSULTANT, the twice weekly podcast from Jackson Dell Weaver and Keith Samuels, was this blog you are reading – QZVX.com and the question, why the name QZVX? When you first heard there was a website being developed that was all about news, email and Internet search, did you ask yourself why they called it Yahoo?

What in the heck is FUBO? ROKU? HULU? Philo??? It’s the content. What Is QZVX? – It’s the sum of the content within the pages of QZVX.com
We can’t sum it up by calling it Seattleradio or WestCoastRadio&TV. It is all that and more.

Jackson Dell Weaver stated that the site was somewhat scattered. True. We cover many topics and cities. We have a lot on our plate. There are many treasures to find here, as Jackson and Keith described with generous compliments.

In 2005, while working at AT&T, I considered turbo-charging my blogging hobby, as I expected to retire from AT&T that year. I was chatting with a buddy one afternoon about domain names. I wanted a domain name that didn’t confine my writing to one topic. I wanted the content to stand on it’s own, whatever I might write about. We tossed around some names but I was looking for something random, like Yahoo! Out of that conversation came QZVX, established that day 2005-02-06 23:09:32.

As this website began to branch out this year, covering more territory, I thought this a good time to bring out the enigmatic title, QZVX, for this radio-tv blog. Yahoo!!!! Some will say FUBAR would have been a better choice, but that domain name was taken.

The MEDIA INSULTANT podcast was quite complimentary. (Catch the video version HERE) Thanks to Jackson Dell Weaver and Keith Samuels for picking the site apart and giving us some publicity. I was famous at my house for the few minutes it took to tell everyone about being featured on a podcast. Our oldest teen peeked out from behind her iPad to say, “I’m surprised someone as elderly as you knows what a podcast is.” She may be getting coal in her Christmas stocking.

Listen every Wednesday for the MEDIA INSULTANT podcast. You can catch it at InTownMedia, or the BUZZSPROUT archive site of Media Insultant podcasts.

    • As with any good radio promotion, there is a little mystery. Is there a format change? A new DJ? A major money give-away? Everyone asks the question. We will find out when the clock counts down in April...

  • Elon Musk is just a follower, blowing up Twitter, like we blew up this site. Our reader numbers have recovered and are slightly higher, expected growth as we expand our coverage of other markets.
