KMAS/Shelton will return to a Classic Hits format after the sale of the station from iFiber One to John & Rebecca Hansen’s Fjord Holdings LLC and Jeff Slakey’s The Anecdotalist LLC. Slakey joined KMAS in 2005, eventually becoming general manager before joining Tracing The Fjord as a reporter and media coordinator last May. iFiber is selling the NewsRadio station, 1030 AM/103.3 FM, for a “steal of a deal,” $152,940.
That’s great news for Shelton area listeners, as the programming for the NewsRadio format was a real tune-out.

KMAS-AM comes in great here in Olympia. I will make it a preset in my car. Congratulations to the Hansen family and Jeff Slakey.

$152, 940? Someone got a deal indeed and it was not the buyer.

Oh, Ye of little faith! Is there no possibility a qualified salesman might turn this AM station into a profitable enterprise?

There is hope for small town — FM — radio
        Not AM
        None

Not even in a small town

Now I checked the FCC records and I see KMAS is on FM 103.3 so now I can somewhat better appreciate the price paid. Barely.

Right, I should have pointed out the FM connection. That will help them. I have faith that a good sales team or one superstar can keep them from going under.

A mainstay here in Shelton for many years. While they may not return to the classics hits, local news and events and the broadcast of the local high school football of years gone by, I will certainly return to hear the new station now that the talk shows will no longer fill the airwaves on both the am and fm locations.
