Brian Egan of Puyallup, Washington, has passed away (January 24, 2024), he was the son of the well known Ed & Barb Egan family. The family, well-respected and deeply rooted in the community, is now facing an unimaginable loss. He was described as a good & kind soul, his true essence and light can now shine uninhibitedly without the worries of this world. Egan was a marketing and advertising professional.

“This past Wednesday my brother Brian passed away from an upper GI bleed. The GI bleed, we believe, stemmed from years of alcohol addiction. Brian was trying his best to beat it, he recently went to a rehab facility for 34 days, he sought help from all over, but in the end the disease ultimately took his life. I only say this, because our family doesn’t want to hide it, we want to try to use it, save lives, and at the same time we want to honor a great man, brother, son, uncle, dog owner, and friend.
My brother was an incredible human being. No offense to my brother Mike or sister Jenny, but I wanted to be like Brian. He was the cool kid at school. Everybody loved Brian. He taught me how to a shoot my bb gun, ride a big wheel, shoot off fireworks, collect baseball cards, he taught me about rock n roll, he bought me my first cassette tape, and we were roommates for much of our childhood. He was also my #1 fishing buddy. Brian and I fished everywhere together with our dad, and he was the best when he was in a boat. From Lake Chalet in Edgewood to Curlew to the Potholes to Five Mile Lake to Yellowstone to Pelican to Petersburg to Sitka to Seward, Brian never got skunked. At least that’s the story we’re going with. “Get them in the boat Chris,” he would always yell to me. I’m not sure how many fish I lost over the years, how many lines I tangled, but he never once yelled at me. He was always there to help his little brother get them in the boat. Man, I wish I could go fishing with my brother again. Brian had a huge heart and loved so many people. I have no doubt he’s running for the mayor of Heaven this week. He’s with his dog Cooper taking a walk, he’s fishing, and he’s sharing stories.
Wednesday was a very dark day for me, but I thank the Lord that on Sunday Brian and I were able hang out. We talked about my kids, about the football games being played that day, he hugged me and said he loved me, I said I loved you and we hugged again. I wish I could go back, I would’ve never let him go. Love you buddy! Get them in the boat. Rest in Peace big brother!”
