It’s musical chairs at the Seattle TV news outlets. This time KING 5 and KIRO 7 are adding instead of subtracting. Arielle Orsuto starts at KING 5 Sports Monday, replacing Jake Garcia. She hails from Denver’s KUSA NBC 9.

Over at KIRO 7, Madeline Ottilie has taken on reporting duties. Madeline comes to KIRO 7 from Cincinnatti’s WCPO 9, the ABC affiliate there.

CNN is laying off 100 of their 3500 employees. Pink slips go to Brian Lowry, CNN media critic, and senior tech writer Samantha Murphy Kelly, among others.

The Los Angeles County’s coroner said that longtime KTLA entertainment reporter Sam Rubin died of natural causes. Rubin was 64 when he died in May. The cause: “ischemic heart disease due to atherosclerotic coronary artery disease (lethal heartbeat due to lack of blood and oxygen flowing to the heart).”

Some Idaho tv viewers will need to rescan for the over-the-air signal from Channel 8 KIFI (VHF). Effective at the beginning of July, KIFI switched to a stronger signal on UHF channel Channel 18. Cable and satellite users are not affected. The VHF signal will continue to broadcast until at least mid-August. KIFI Channel 8 has been broadcasting on VHF since 1961 when the station first started. KIFI channels carry programming from ABC, CBS, CW, and Telemundo.
