I have news to share. 2024 has been filled with making positive changes to create the life I want to live. Sooooo….
I’m stepping away from radio. And I feel really, really good about it.
I got involved in this business after graduating Puyallup HS in the Fall of 1999 at KGRG (RIP.) Free CDs, concert tickets, and a chance to meet your favorite band? Yes please. Back then you could intern at a commercial radio station and if the right person believed in you – you got your big break. I did countless air shifts at KISS 106.1 and became “Kimi Kline” (a stage name picked by my boss.) I learned news, traffic, and how to interview people. I hosted events for JACK fm, even worked country radio at KMPS for a couple years, moved to San Francisco for a quick minute only to be lured back to Seattle and become the airborne traffic reporter for KIRO Radio. The last few years have been spent primarily with AM 1000 KNWN (fka KOMO radio) where they have graciously treated me like part of the team too.
Much love to my wacky, dysfunctional, extended radio family who either got out of the biz already or are still fighting to stay in.
Trust your intuition. When you know – it’s time to go.
More on my next era later… but my last day on-air will be next Monday, 7/29. And I’m about to do something completely different!
