‘Listener’ Jay Leno calls Tim Conway Jr. show, KFI/Los Angeles, 2016

Jay Leno happened to be listening to KFI when Tim Conway Jr. was interviewing Kelly Carlin, daughter of the late George Carlin.  Wanting to contribute to the conversation, he called into the show, and ended up chatting with Tim and Mark Thompson for nearly half an hour. (This is not the same Mark Thompson who formerly worked with Brian Phelps on the KLOS “Mark & Brian” morning show).

Jay was also given the studio hotline number so he could avoid busy signals in the future.  He has since been a guest many times, and even filled in for Tim once in 2017.

In 1989 he moved to Los Angeles as Assistant Chief Engineer and weekends at KZLA/KLAC. Also engineered for KBIG, KFI, Premiere Radio Networks, CBS Radio, and others.
