Disney raising prices for streaming services

As Disney cuts back at the networks, laying off employees, the company is raising prices across the board on all streaming services. Cord cutters know the name of this tune. Just as with cable tv subscriptions, viewers will find alternatives to services that “price gouge” consumers. Disney+ will increase the price of its streaming services on October 17, 2024.

Disney+ with ads: $9.99 per month, up from $7.99
Disney+ Premium (ad-free): $15.99 per month, up from $13.99
Hulu with ads: $9.99 per month, up from $7.99
Hulu (ad-free): $18.99 per month, up from $17.99
Some other changes to Hulu’s plans include:
Hulu + Live TV: The ad-supported version will increase to $82.99 per month, and the ad-free version will increase to $95.99 per month.
Annual fee: The annual fee for ad-supported Hulu will increase to $99.99.
ESPN+: $11.99 per month, up from $10.99
Disney+/Hulu bundle (with ads): $10.99 per month, up from $9.99
Disney triple-play bundles: $2 more per month
Disney also added new features to Disney+ to accompany the price increase, including access to ABC News Live and a playlist of content for preschool-aged children.
Disney has been gradually raising the prices of its streaming services since Disney+ launched with a monthly subscription fee of $6.99.

Watch for boycotts and “switching” as viewers make budget cuts this coming year.

There are umpteen alternatives to subscription services. (Umpteen is not an exact number, but a googillion seemed like a bit of a stretch).
One service that comes to mind is PLEX. Plex is a FREE app that gives viewers 50k+ On Demand Titles and 600+ Live TV Channels.

You have to ask yourself what you are willing to spend for tv, and how much time you spend in front of the screen.
