All it needs is the NBC peacock intro; Julian Nieh shows how airchecks have changed with the times.

Radio personalities are familiar with the ritual sending of airchecks to potential employers. But, Julian Nieh (formerly with KPLZ FM) has come up a creative video introduction to go along with that aircheck. Despite the fact that I very much dislike his on-air presentation, he gets points for this video. Not everyone can pony up the money to hire a professional videographer, but with a Go-Pro and a good script, a decent video could be a great addition in your job search. Will a PD take 13 minutes out of his busy day to watch the entire video? It might just be the kicker that gets Julian and others that extra nudge to land the gig.

The Wolf 100.7 KKWF came in at 4.7 versus 2.6 for “HANK” KPLZ 101.5 in the Country radio battle according to Nielsen Audio Ratings (PPM 6+ Mon-Sun, 6a-12mid) for September.

Chase Golightly (KPNX 12 News/Phoenix) attended a rally in Tucson and then noticed this spelling error on his press badge. ” … so close.” says Chase.

Speaking of AZ tv News, as we told you in August (Garcia lining up AZ move-in), Jake Garcia closed the deal at 12 News. He starts Monday as a sports reporter and anchor. His first day will be Monday. Garcia posted on social media this week: “Excited join a powerhouse team and be back on the beat where the journey started.”

Nice article about the origin of some Los Angeles radio-tv stations at the LA TIMES. One error to point out. The author states that Gene Autry’s KOOL in Phoenix no longer exists. Though the tv and AM stations have changed calls, the FM remains KOOL with those call letters, not just a cute promo moniker.
