RADIO SILENT TONIGHT
GIVES FANS OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR DISTANT CALLS.
KDZE and KFC Give Usual Day Programs of Phonograph Music and Store Talks.
TODAY, in the scheme of Seattle radio telephone broadcast, is “silent Thursday.” That is, while there was morning transmission, and afternoon messages, the local stations will be silent after 7 o’clock this evening so that owners of long distance receiving sets may hear the evening hours throughout.
Only two Seattle stations were in service today, KDZE, of the Rhodes Company, opened at 10:30 this morning for a half-hour’s store talk, and was heard again from 3:30 to 4:30, a style talk and phonograph music being sent out. KFC transmitted news bulletins and phonograph music from 11:15 until noon. KFC was also in the air from 2 to 3 this afternoon and will close the day’s broadcast with a period lasting from 5:20 until 6:45.
RADIO HUSBAND
My husband is a radio fan. He has his radio installed in the living room, and the minute he gets home at 6 o’clock in the evening he clamps the head piece on his head, and no one can move or speak. We can hardly get him to leave it alone long enough to eat his dinner.
Then at 8 KDZE starts sending until 9:30, or KFC takes the air from 9 to 10:30, or longer.
Can you see him sitting in the big leather rocker, enjoying all the news and music and bulletins, and everyone having to keep perfectly still while he listens?
My son and daughter come home from their day’s work, and when they open the door it is “Sh-h-h!” We can’t chat or do anything. If company comes in it is the same way, and “Ho!” who was once a most enjoyable father and companionable husband is now a selfish and silent “radio-bug.”
I’ll say I have a pet peeve.—Mrs. S. J. C.
