Newspaper ownership of radio and tv stations has always made for preferential treatment in ad placement and even tv listings. KTNT (at the time owned by the Tacoma News Tribune), always got first mention.


Another aspect of advertising in all three major newspapers was poor graphic design. Compared to tv and radio ads from other markets, Portland, Fresno, Phoenix, Houston, all were a cut above what we had in the Puget Sound area. Logos, ad design etc.
