Todd Kunz, Anchor/Exec. Producer for three tv stations serving Eastern Idaho & Western Wyoming:
“Management informed me before Thanksgiving my contract would not be renewed. After 34 years of broadcasting and 25 here, I am leaving Local News 8, KIDK 3, and Fox 5 Feb 28. A warm thank you to my many loyal viewers and followers over the decades. Forward with FAITH.”

We see this too often these days. The bean counters probably earn raises by whittling away at the talent.

  • Typical MUSICAL CHAIRS - just like we've witnessed in the Seattle metro market for SO MANY YEARS. The BIG, or should I say, HUGE blip on the radar screen was when Fisher Blend SOLD HOME TOWN KOMO to an outsider, Sinclair Broadcasting... and since then... EVERYTHING 'HOME-ISH' about Channel 4 has gone down the tubes. You can actually SEE and FEEL THE STRESS on the air when KOMO airs its newscasts. It was a SAD DAY when Fisher relinquished ownership... but I see they're still loading ships at the terminals with their Scone Mix!

  • Great job Todd. You were a calming factor in this tremulous time. CBS may be seeing a downsizing it's self! This may be a blessing in disguise!
Good Luck you will be missed!

  • I Have Been Watching Channel 3 When Todd And Steve Cannon Worked Together I Don't Understand Why They Didn't Renew His Contract Anyway We Will Miss You Todd We Wish Lots Of Luck And Happiness In What Ever You Do Next God Bless And Thank You

  • I agree with all of the above comments. Todd Kunz has been a big contributor to the station. Sad to see him go, it’s not been the same since Christmas.

  • Shame on Channel 8! Todd kunz was a definite asset to the community and to the communications of channel 8. Best of luck to you Todd; you deserve better than what you got

  • You will be missed…. Best of luck They will realize what a big mistake they made

    • I will no longer watch channel 8 news. I moved to Idaho 40 yrs ago and started watching channel 8. I haven't watch another channel in all those years, that will now change, February 28 th will be the last time I watch channel 8.

      • Same for our family. We have tried other News stations, just to come back to channel 8. With the awesome awards earned by the awesome news crew, WHAT the heck are you thinking. Channel 8 news is out at our home

  • What a great loss for channel 8 news. Todd brings us the news in an informed manner and with the sensitivity some situations need. He will be greatly missed. Any chance to reconsider? Todd it's been a pleasure watching the news with you for all these years! Best of luck in all your endeavors
