In Feb. 1966, I was the new news director at KMO. After the 8 a.m. newscast, I would collect the station’s remote gear and race from Fife to the Sheraton Inn, set up the mixer, mics, etc., and engineer Breakfast With McMurtrie. Early in his own radio career, a youthful Paul Berg (Pat O’Day) had the same assignment on the McMurtrie show. Burt was quite a character.
