Jason Remington says:
It was announced in May 1959 that Gene Autry had purchased KVI. The format flipped from Country to an Adult Contemporary style of music. Bob MacDonald was the morning personality initially. The station started heavy newspaper promotion of the music/personality format, upgraded the transmitter, referred to the sound as hi-fi KVI.
