Worth your daily read, a couple other PNW media blogs you might bookmark. PUGETSOUNDRADIO.COM has many features, including This Day in Broadcasting History. Always a good read, trivia you need to know, along with other various features, such as music reviews and interviews with media people. The creator of PugetSoundRadio.com is Michael Easton. Easton also provides a daily round-up of political news items, entitled PSR’s 6pm News You Should Know… NWBroadcasters.com, a site that includes AM, FM, and TV data plus current news from each category. Brian Cook’s focus is on Canadian media also. The site lost its Washington state connection after creator Gord Lansdell retired and passed the site to Cook in 2023. Lansdell had operated the site since 1997. Heavily researched Canuck topics, written with depth and focus, both sites are attractively formatted, easy on the eye and both draw consistent reader feedback…Of Seattle’s three Country music stations, HANK has the best website, spotlighting what the station offers, ways to listen and a focus on community involvement. Coincidentally, HANK FM (KPLZ 101.5) has a pre-set on my car radio. But a hankerin’ for older Country music pushes me to the apps on my phone, connected by Apple Car Play to the radio. When nearer home base, Olympia, I listen to KAYO (KYYO 96.9) for the new stuff…NEW MORNING TEAM at 95.3 KGY/Olympia starting May 12th. Ashley & Brad In the Morning. Their website tells us: Ashley and Brad bring a daily dose of news, pop culture, and laughs with engaging conversation that’s safe for everyone to listen to. They would love to hear from you, call, or text them at 888-922-7234. Ashley & Brad probably have to clear their voicemail box quite often, as the 888# serves listeners nationwide. If you aren’t near a radio that can pick up KGY, Ashley & Brad post their daily show on their website. https://www.ashleybradradio.com/ Being near a radio within range of KAYO & KGY is important because there is no app for that, nor is there an on-line stream…Speaking of syndicated morning shows with hosts from Los Angeles (Ashley & Brad) or Alabama (Big D. & Bubba – KAYO mornings), let’s embrace the few local broadcasters still on our local radio dial. Speaking of KAYO–Why has afternoon driver, MATT CASE, become a “puker”? His delivery has changed and it ain’t Country. Matt is local to the PNW, having worked many stations, including WARM 106.9 and 95.7 KJR (now known as KJEB). Case joined KYYO in August 2022. He has consistently provided a solid three or four hours, but seems to have changed things up with a Boss Jock rap, of sorts. Maybe I’m just a square.
