A new publication is tackling a special interest that few other publishers are willing to heed. The first issue of Listenin’, Seattle’s Radio Guide has been distributed to libraries and some bookstores.

It is a 24-page, adhesive-bound newsprint booklet, printed offset from typewriter type.

Publisher William D. Fyfe, says the initial press run was “very small, very limited.” The first issue was distributed to libraries and some bookstores. It has no price on it, but the second issue will be 50 cents. A yearly subscription will be $5.

Some radio shows are listed on a chronological basis, usually with two- and three-word show titles and short phrases describing host or content. Fyfe received listing information from KUOW, KPLU, KAMT, KIRO, KOMO and KBLE.

Fyfe, a former store manager, said he believes people would listen more, and differently, if they knew where good radio programming was. The second-issue press run will be 1,000 copies.
