This was passed along to me and I am reminded of the nights of DX’ing distant stations, some as far from Tacoma as Tulsa, OK. Stations like KNBR/SF, KHKI/SF, XETRA/San Diego-Tijuana, KSL/Salt Lake City, KIMN/Denver, KOA/Denver, CKWX/Vancouver BC, and KOB/Albuquerque. The actual list that I compiled while listening to the JC Penney SuperRadio my mother bought me, was quite long. That was with many hours sifting through static and dealing with the frequent fade-out. I have spent way too much on expensive radio set-ups in the past few years, hoping to find a radio as good as that old Penney’s portable. They don’t build them like they used to. I donated my radios to a friend that repairs old radios. None of those radios were worth what I paid for them.
