Fox 13 (KCPQ) and Fox 13+ (KZJO) is expanding its news offerings with new time slots, an expanded morning show, and enhanced streaming options starting on June 16.
The new schedule includes additional weekday newscasts on both KCPQ and KZJO, along with an increase in live streaming content.
Fox 13 will introduce a lineup of new shows including “Seattle News Tonight” at 4 and 5 p.m. local time, “Washington News Wrap” at 6 p.m., “Washington Sports Wrap” at 6:30 p.m., and “West Coast News Wrap” at 7 p.m. The station will continue its existing 10 p.m. broadcast of “Seattle News Tonight.” Fox 13+ will air “Seattle News Tonight” at 8 and 9 p.m.
In addition to the revised evening programming, the morning show “Good Day Seattle” will be extended later this summer to air from 5 to 11 a.m. This will be followed by “Studio 13 Live,” a 30-minute program focused on lifestyle and community features.

KSER/KXIR Foundation is about to publicly name a new GM, as Tom Clendening recently retired from that role after 13 years.
Current president of the foundation, Eric Fetters-Walp says they are determined to shore up awareness of the stations and strengthen their presence in Snohomish and Island counties. High on the agenda is exploring funding avenues, such as grants.

Warner Brothers-Discovery is laying off employees in the Discovery Networks part of the company, which includes Animal Planet, the Discovery Channel, American Heroes, Travel Channel, OWN and Science Channel.

Here is a term you can add to your vocabulary, ROCKTERNATIVE. No clear definition yet. Audacy uses the term in branding some of their offerings. The word is floating on the tongues of whiz kids and smarty pants types, and you won’t hate it enough in six months.

What does the future hold for local tv, in a society that is disconnecting the cable, streaming their video on laptops and phones, on-demand? Can a station sustain itself on “constant information” with 3 or 4 competitors in the market offering the same? Seattle couldn’t support two newspapers. Neilsen ratings show that maybe we only want two sports-radio stations at the most. Each tv station has a piece of the pie. At the same time, people are turning to alternative sources for their news, online.

    Jason Remington says:

Warner Bros./Discovery hopes to complete the formation of a new company next year that will house CNN, TBS, TNT Sports, the Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Cartoon Network and other cable networks. For now, the new unit is being called “Global Networks.” (underperforming elements) The new Global Networks business will hold as much as 20 percent equity in the second company, referred to now as “Streaming & Studio.” Both companies will likely adopt more-formal names, either closer to the planned separation or once the spin-off is completed. The cable networks business intends to use its equity position in the streaming and studios company to pay down debt.
The move is similar to one being carried out by Comcast right now, which involves the separation of most entertainment and news cable networks — except Bravo — into a new company called Versant.
