This report, nice video, a sound bite and no stupid commentary following the report–(CLICK HERE). Bill Wixey is usually no-nonsense. Done and done! Compliments to Mireya Garcia, doing an acceptable job with the celebrity gossip segments. I’m not a fan of that or the lifestyle shows, generally. So, acceptable is awarded, much like a participation trophy.
My humble opinion, the tax payers of the United States should not be funding radio and television of any kind. We don’t subsidize newspapers. The grifting has to stop!

    T.K. says:

I’ve got to call out that sound bite that implies CPB is somehow responsible for the EAS. It is managed by the FCC, FEMA, and NOAA.

I’d say KCPQ has done OK without the CPB funds it got when Clover Park owned it.

As for subsidizing newspapers, that has had some traction in places: https://www.cislm.org/research/government-support-for-local-news/

He repeats what the CEO said the other day, that some rural areas only have a PBS or NPR station….
That’s where they lose the argument. The station would still have the EAS equipment and be at ready like any other station. Has nothing to do with funding. If the station goes dark due to lack of funding, that is the same thing commercial stations are facing these days with lack of advertising income.
Shut them down, turn in the license.
