KING TV set the standard for race day coverage, starting in 1951, when it was the only television station in the Northwest.

    racing fan says:

For the last two years the coverage has been on the Everett station Kong.
Kiro before that, (but the network go mad at them for cancelling golf).
Once, way back when, the races were on Ktvw with Pat O’day as the only coverage
    due to a technician’s strike.
One time the coverage lasted until about 9 PM when the races where at
Sand Point and some boat sank and others were damaged by accidents in the
    poor racing conditions.

      T.K. says:

I get the impression that the hydro coverage on KONG is bought by Seafair, both the production crew and the air time. It’s not nearly as big of a broadcast as what KIRO would put together when Channel 7 was paying for the exclusive rights.
