SEPTEMBER 1963
A MILESTONE IS REACHED . . . Operations Manager Homer Pope begins his 36th year as one of the familiar radio personalities who went from the old KOMO-KJR operation to gain national recognition. And in many instances, their first radio job was Homer’s.
JERRY KAY PROMOTED . . . he’s now Program Director of KNEW, Spokane. That’s where he established his “p.d.” duties. Jerry will be the new morning deejay.
KJR’S PAT O’DAY AND Dick Curtis busy making final plans to bring the Seattle Opera House one of the most talent-packed live stage shows in years. The date: Sunday, September 29th. This show should definitely establish the O’Day-Curtis duo as one of this town’s top independent promoters.
J.J. VALLEY . . . KJR’s midnight to 6 a.m. deejay, claims he had an uncle who was a famous newscaster. You might remember him . . . Edwin C. Hill.
SWINGIN’ ENDS
Mike Phillips and Dick Curtis KJR’s most attractive deejays, have just about nailed down their Touch Football team. At least people think of them as “the end.”

from September 1963…
LUCKY PAT O’DAY
His picture with Annette Funicello is featured in this month’s Billboard magazine. Annette, if you remember, was Miss KJR during this year’s Seafair. She took time off from making pictures for Walt Disney to represent the station And like it is often said, Annette’s appearance in Seattle was another “KJR sound citizen service”
ATTENTION TACOMA
Dick Curtis, KJR early evening deejay, is from your town. He went to Lincoln High and played in the band. You can have him back . . .
CLUB NOTICES: Don’t forget to let KJR know about them. Every hour, KJR airs the “Community Service Bulletin Board” at which time important community events are announced as a public service.
WHAT IS J. VALLEY REALLY LIKE? . . .
The KJR office staff couldn’t tell you ’cause they’ve never really seen him. Valley comes to work at midnight and leaves at 6 a.m. But like most Seattle-Tacoma late night listeners, the whole office staff knows his voice and humor. So take a tip from Carla, Flossie, Anne, and Mary . . . tonight or tomorrow morning (which ever you prefer) listen to the J. Valley program on KJR.
WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT? . . . 9 a.m. to noon deejay Mike Phillips has a cold On Channel 95.

** That last one is a real head shaker. I can’t imagine that Mike Phillips had a cold. Incredible. Thanks for the info.
