Bill Virgin/Seattle PI – April 2006…Robin Erickson and John Maynard are now free from their ties to Entercom in two ways.
The longtime Seattle team lost their on-air gig last December when Entercom dropped the talk format on KQBZ-FM (100.7) and flipped it to country music, but their contracts didn’t expire until earlier this month.

Meanwhile, the sexual harassment suit Erickson filed against Entercom apparently has been settled. Rebecca Roe, an attorney representing Erickson, confirmed that “the matter is settled and is confidential.”

Maynard said this week the pair doesn’t have anything lined up on air at present, but in order to keep in touch with fans the two will be working on additions to their Web site (www.robinandmaynard.net). That will include audio clips, such as an explanation from their perspective as to what happened at The Buzz.

“There were a lot of things we couldn’t say when we were employees,” Maynard said.

Keith Shipman, who at one time was on TV and radio in Seattle, is now chief executive of Horizon Broadcasting Group. He says the company’s central Oregon group of stations includes several familiar names from the Puget Sound region — Bruce Cannon, formerly of KTAC-AM, and Jeff Nelson, son of long-time KOMO morning host Larry Nelson and a former morning host on Bellingham’s KAFE-FM.
One of Horizon’s FM stations in Bend is also the new home of Bryon Mengle, who was the producer for the Murdock, Hunter & Alice show and more recently was promotion director for KLSY-FM and KIXI-AM.

One of Seattle’s great radio teams. John Maynard’s news was always worth a listen.
