I downloaded Streamlabs and its associated doo-dads used for framing a vidcast. I’m just learning the ins and outs of podcasting’s technical side and plan to test it out later this week. This is only a test.
Rich Lieberman reports media happenings in San Francisco. His vidcast has recently averaged 183 views per video, with one reaching 1,100 views, according to a recent count.
If you’re an avid watcher of TV-radio media podcasts, you might know that Rich Lieberman averages more viewers than Gregg ‘Opie’ Hughes gets in a week. That’s Opie, from the former Opie & Anthony shock-jock radio team.
The video that drew the most viewers covered San Francisco radio legend Ronn Owens, his wife, and his daughter. Reports claim that Ronn started a GoFundMe account after facing financial hardship due to medical bills.
Meanwhile, as the fund grew, his daughter, Laura, was accused of paternity fraud. Lieberman claims the GoFundMe funds were used to pay attorneys for Laura. Additionally, rumors suggest lavish spending by Ronn and his wife, Jan Black.
Keith Morrison, are you paying attention?
Adding to this complicated story, the Owens family is avoiding the media, which frustrates Rich Lieberman. This is a hot mess, you say? Well, There’s more!
Lieberman is furious about San Francisco’s newspaper, TV, and radio media ignoring the Owens family drama. Only recently have the San Francisco Chronicle and the Mercury News begun to cover it. Lieberman’s vidcasts are a continuous harangue of KCBS radio and other TV news folks, many of whom worked with or are friends with Ronn Owens and Jan Black.
Lieberman repeats several grudges and attacks in two or three daily podcasts on YouTube and other platforms.
Rich Lieberman and KGO-TV (ABC 7) news anchor Dan Ashley were friends for some time. Lieberman couldn’t resist trouncing Ashley for perceived transgressions, and these repeated attacks on his blog and podcasts caused their friendship to go up in flames.
In September 2020, KGO-TV reported that a group of 29 Bay Area journalists, all women, united against Lieberman, claiming he had been allowed to operate with undue credibility for too long.
Lieberman’s blog had been running for more than 12 years by that time. His stories covered industry happenings, gossip, and often female reporters’ appearances. Despite the offensive nature of his content, Lieberman was often cited as a credible source on the local news industry, referenced multiple times by the Mercury News.
When the Mercury News retracted an inaccurate story based on Lieberman’s claims, dozens of women who had worked in TV and radio spoke out. They argued he had been bullying female professionals on his blog. These Bay Area journalists published an open letter on Medium, a digital publishing platform.
They criticized posts that objectified female anchors, such as comments on ‘boob power’ or ‘Boner of the Day’ headlines, and pitted female anchors against one another with fabricated rivalries.
Some in the group contacted companies sponsoring Lieberman’s blog in an attempt to cancel him. Angering these women provoked a strong reaction.
Who listens to Rich Lieberman’s podcasts? He has his die-hard followers and perhaps a larger contingent that hate-watch his podcasts several times a week. After years of producing a daily rehash of the same hot takes on San Francisco media, Lieberman replaced his blog’s print edition with polarizing videos. His mission: to report on media news that mainstream outlets ignore, while sowing extreme disagreement, discord, and division among viewers, including many of the same TV-radio personalities he criticizes. That may not be his mission statement, but viewers can only judge by the exhaustive, verbose dressing-down of media personalities.
Once I master the technical side of the Streamlabs platform, I’ll invite Rich Lieberman to join me in testing its features. That is, if he takes my call.

Why are there podcasts?

Dick Ellingson says:
Podcasts are nothing more than self-constructed, self-praising, ego-jacking bloat. Only someone with fewer, and less capable, decision-making neurons than a mouse in a maze could dream up such an exercise and actually take part in it more than once.
Blah..blah..blah..

Blah…blah…blah. Say what you mean, and mean what you say. Tell us how you really feel!
And another thing…them highfalutin’ bigwigs with their autymobeeeeels! Up and down the road, honkin’ and scarin’ the chickens.
Initially, I thought podcasts were just talk shows hosted by comedians and media people, just like the old Air America.
Then, people started having a team of hosts, roundtables and interviews. A full-blown McLaughlin Group.
You are correct, sir! Most are nothing more than the discussion you would have with a neighbor over the back fence and never get a second listen.
The majority of them remind me of the kind of content you would get on cable access television.
There are some that stand out though, hosted by professional talent, tired of the radio/tv corporate line and now free to discuss topics without censorship (unless it’s on Youtube).
The big draw for most of them is the dream that they will be monetized by Youtube etc. Some make big bucks from podcasting. Most never will and those people have their microphones and cameras listed on eBay now.
Next, we’ll discuss them “bloggers”. Thinkin’ they have sometin’ worth printin’ on the fancy Internet machine. All that horse shit.

This is Rich Lieberman and do you know I was voted sexiest man by People Magazine and dated actress Valerie Bertineli.
I like to complain on the same subjects because the media is fucked up here.
More insane asylums -- I voted for that

Obviously, the man, Rich Lieberman, is demented. To be certain, we asked GROK, the super-intelligent AI bot for X.com, and these are the facts: No, there is no evidence that Valerie Bertinelli ever dated Rich Lieberman. Comprehensive searches of her publicly documented dating history reveal relationships with individuals such as Eddie Van Halen (married 1981–2007), Tom Vitale (dated 2004–2011, married 2011–2022), Mike Goodnough (dated 2024, split after 10 months), Steven Spielberg (brief fling in 1980), Dirk Benedict (dated 1979), and Paul Shaffer (a few dates in the late 1970s). Rich Lieberman, a Bay Area media blogger known for his 415 Media site and commentary on local TV/radio personalities, does not appear in any accounts of Bertinelli’s personal life, and no connections between the two have been reported in biographical sources, news articles, or relationship timelines.
Rich Has Been MIA for Three Months Now

NGF says:
In mid-October Rich Lieberman told readers he was taking “a few days off” for “personal reasons.” Whatever they might be, he has not returned. Rich was once a Bay Area broadcaster and after that career arc was done began blogging about the state of media — probably not by coincidence, he started a daily harangue about how bad things were, how much better the old days were on Bay Area radio and TV. I don’t think his reputation ever quite got over the public actions made by a group of prominent women in local radio and television, some heritage names in the market, calling him out for misogynist and sexist language in his posts. Which to be honest were claims that had the ring of truth about them.
Lieberman seems to have channeled all his existence into one big resentment against Bay Area radio and television in the mid 2020s — according to “his sources” every newsroom is in disarray and a cesspool of jealousy and vindictiveness, every manager and news director is incompetent, every TV news anchor is fighting for his or her colleague’s job, anchors married to other people are seen by “his spies” necking with co-anchors in restaurant booths. It’s a blog, it’s a free country, you can write whatever you like. Believe what you will, discard the rest.
I like the guy’s style, or at least I did. He used to be something of the man-about-town, photographed with suit and fedora, a kind of latter-day Herb Caen. His later videos showing a scowling, snarling fellow in a hoodie didn’t quite cut it for a lot of his followers. I hope he gets it together and maybe gets more connected.

Jason Remington says:
Radio drama from a radio station he spoke fondly of. As for online comments, Reddit has overall positive commentary. Lieberman’s X account roasts him with a few rude comments.
