January 1, 1932—KXRO, Aberdeen, is back on the air with a new transmitter following a disastrous fire on November 22 which entirely destroyed its transmitter. The station was off the air for three days and was enabled to resume operation only when a group of amateurs pieced together a 50-watt transmitter. A new 12-A Western Electric transmitter, together with speech input equipment, has now been installed. [Broadcasting Magazine]
