Aaron Perlman, originally from Phoenix, began his television career as an evening weather forecaster at KSWT in Yuma. This was his first professional broadcasting role, where he served as the chief forecaster before relocating to California.
In June 2004, Perlman joined KBAK-CBS and its sister station KBFX-FOX in Bakersfield, initially as the morning weather forecaster for Eyewitness News. What started as a planned five-year stint turned into a long-term commitment; as of 2024, he marked 20 years with the station. Over the years, the morning newscast expanded from two hours to five and a half hours, and Perlman transitioned from forecaster to main morning anchor while retaining weather duties. He anchors from 4:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., with co-anchors like Erin Briscoe.
Beyond TV, Perlman co-hosts The Afternoon Joy Ride on 88.3 Life FM (KAXL), a Christian radio station, weekdays from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. He serves as Music Director and started as a guest before becoming a regular. He leads music at Christ’s Church of the Valley in Bakersfield. Despite initial plans to return to Arizona, he remains deeply rooted in Bakersfield, often joking about his “legendary” endurance for early-morning shifts.
