1992-1993–Changes at Fisher Plaza

November 1992 – The vice president and general manager of KOMO-AM 1000 has been fired by the new president of Fisher Broadcasting Inc., which owns the radio station and KOMO-TV. Rich Robertson, 55, with KOMO radio since February 1983, was dismissed unexpectedly Monday by Patrick Scott, who was promoted to president in January. Robertson entered the radio business in 1962. Before joining KOMO in 1983, he worked for KVI as an account executive, KSEA as a general sales manager and KJR as a vice president and general manager.
August 1993 – KOMO-TV has hired the sports director of a Portland station to be a sports reporter and weekend anchor here. Eric Johnson, a Spokane native, will join the station Sept. 21, KOMO employees learned yesterday. He’ll cover sports for weekday newscasts and will anchor the Saturday and Sunday evening sportscasts. Prior to joining KGW, the NBC affiliate in Portland, Johnson worked for stations in Spokane and Boise. He graduated from Washington State University in 1984.
October 1993 – Bill Crounse, a longtime medical reporter for KOMO-TV, announced this morning that he had resigned last week because of “disagreement with the newsroom.” Crounse was familiar to viewers as “Dr. Bill,” Channel 4’s family doctor for the past 10 years, during which Crounse did his “Healthwatch” reports.
