  • KBRO had its share of alumni go into notable TV careers. John Jarstad went to Channel 4, hosting their inaugural broadcast, then sportscasting at KTVW (and ultimately became a Tacoma City Councilman while his brother Glenn was longtime mayor of Bremerton.) Bob Gleason left to help start Channel 11 and stayed there for about 30 years. Loren Stone, founding manager of KCTS, came from a stint managing KBRO. Stan Johnson had a short-lived morning show on Channel 13 in the early '60s. Andy Jordan, who was the first CE at KBRO, would have a long run in the KING engineering department. Joe Zaspel, who was a KBRO news reporter in the late '60s, went on to cover the Legislature for Channel 7.

Linc Perry was a Clay Huntington-type figure in Kitsap County, going from radio to being a prominent local sports booster. Rumor has it Perry was the KBRO manager that told a Bremerton High student named Paul Berg that he had no future in the business.

    • KBRO must have been an outstanding operation to have turned out so many of the best broadcasters.
