KXXO became X96 at 3:40 pm, a latin pop format from different latin cultures and some English songs thrown in the mix
The new X96 doesn't sound half bad. I can't say that it would be a pre-set on my car radio, but kudos to Bustos Media for providing yet another Spanish-language format to serve that 13.1 % of the PNW.
The NBC chimes before the time check. I dig it.
The dead air you refer to was courtesy of StarTouch.
Not familiar with StarTouch but dead air can be expected if techs are doing work in preparation of a shutdown or change-over. It is a shame that a local buyer couldn't grab Mixx and keep the local Oly connection.
Is this Dave Cowan, PD of KXXO?
I noticed they are still doing nature sounds still and I also taped the last hour also. They went full circle signing off the same song and going to nature sounds after they signed off like they did before they launched Mixx 96 in 1990.But I don’t understand why Bustos hasn’t launched X96 yet. You can hear the new station online. It launched either Thursday or Friday. The PD said probably this afternoon or tomorrow
As of 9:35 a.m. 10/27/25, 96.1 KXXO continues to broadcast nature sounds, birds and some ocean surf. Bustos Media has yet to begin broadcasting their Spanish language programming.
Final day of KXXO included ads from competing stations, KGY/Oldies and KWRM/AC, enticing KXXO listeners to move over to their station. Typical of such shutdowns/format changes.
