CBS has begun firing local anchors and reporters

CBS owned & operated stations are caught up in the latest rounds of layoffs by Paramount-CBS. Nearly 1000 people were let go this week. The cuts also affect two streaming shows, the gutting of the network’s Saturday morning news program, and the disbanding of its race and culture unit. Among the many that were pink-slipped this week, WBZ (Boston) commentator Jon Keller.
Lisa Ling is exiting her role as a contributor at CBS amid the latest wave of layoffs.
She shared the news in a social media post on Oct. 30, teasing a new project she will be announcing in the near future. “So yesterday, I got a call from CBS that I was among the massive layoffs at the network,” Ling said. “Now this didn’t entirely surprise me, because I wasn’t a full-time employee, but rather a contributor, and we’re easy to cut. My heart, though, goes out to all of those who had been working at the network for many, many years.”
Gayle King may leave ‘CBS Mornings’ soon, according to the rumor mill.
