– NORTHWEST BROADCASTERS pays tribute to another radio personality well known to fans in this area. Daryl Burlingham, known on air as Daryl B, passed away from a stroke February 27 in Winnipeg. Thank you to Ted Wendland of the Puget Sound Radio Guide for this information.
– The US Federal Aviation Administration has approved the eight radio towers proposed for construction in the Lord’s Hill valley by KRKO AM 1380 Everett. The new towers, opposed by environmentalists, are required for the station’s new 50,000 watt transmitter.

– KBCS FM 91.3 Bellevue has applied to the FCC for a small power increase to 8000 watts, a slight decrease in HAAT to 64 meters, with a non-directional antenna and a change in antenna location. KBCS has been experiencing interference in some areas from CKXM FM 91.3 Victoria since that station came on the air.
– Call letter change from KBLO to KVRI AM 1600 Blaine, Way Broadcasting Inc. Station is not yet on air.
– CHEK-TV Channel 6 Victoria may be rebranded as “CH” and follow the prime time schedule of CHCH-TV Hamilton.
– Will CKST AM 1040 link up with the CHUM Radio Group instead of Telemedia Radio and not become “The Fan” after all? If so, it still will be All Sports, but with a different affiliation.
– KSVR FM 90.1 Mount Vernon g.m. Rip Robbins reports their construction permit for a frequency change to 91.7 is nearing approval by the FCC. Construction will likely start this spring with their new antenna located off campus on a city owned tower on Little Mountain. Coverage is expected south to Silvana and west to Oak Harbor.
– FM 95.7 Seattle “The Beat” has changed call letters from KMBX to KBTB.
– Vancouver’s second all news station, CJNW AM 730, “NW2 24 Hour News Radio Powered by CKNW” premiered on schedule at midnight February 1, replacing long time music station CKLG.
