Victor Stredicke is a longtime figure in Seattle-area media, best known as the former radio-TV editor for The Seattle Times. I wonder what the record mentioned in the KAYO article was? #43 on their music survey that Ron Dini thought was a “dirty record”. Of course that was October 1968 and my guess is that record wouldn’t cause a blink-of-an-eye today! I always felt the PD’s staff meeting to pick records was more a clever “building camaraderie ploy” than actually choosing records for airplay. Seemed to work!!!
This particular article took me back to reread the fact-filled Ron DeHart PSM article of February 10th 2019 about Kountry KAYO. Everything you would ever want to know about one of America’s 1st really successful Country Radio stations.
