At age 80, after 60 years of radio, only recently hit with some bad medical news, Charlye Parker died on Sunday. Charlye Parker, KXA weekender, passed quickly and peacefully at home. Charlye Parker was able to say goodbye to listeners during a quickly put-together on-air program on Everett’s KXA last Friday.

Parker had worked at KTRC in Santa Fe, KRZY in Alburquerque, KWYZ and KMPS in the Pacific Northwest and KHAY in Ventura, where she spent 21 years as morning host.

  • Very sad, hopefully in the future, with technology getting better, we will be able to diagnose Pancreatic Cancer in time to treat it.
    Rest In Peace
    Charlye.

  • I used to listen to Charlye on the Loveline Show nights on KMPS. She was my introduction to Stephen King. She was reading Pet Sematary and talked about it a few times with callers. So I read it - SCARY! - and was hooked on King from then on.

  • While some cancers are treatable, reversible-- each year more than 50,000 people in the United States (and double this number in Europe) are now diagnosed with pancreatic cancer (adenocarcinoma). The prognosis is such that most of these people will have passed by the end of the first year.

  • Parker's cancer diagnosis came after Memorial Day weekend this year.
