Doug Dahlgren, formerly with KGY & KYYO/Olympia, has died. Dahlgren was 82. Dahlgren’s career took him through many markets, including Indianapolis and Portland, OR. Dahlgren died at home in Chicago on November 30th.

Dahlgren began his career in Iowa in the 1960s and spent seven years in mornings at WIRE-AM Indianapolis (1430) starting in 1980. He joined KUPL-FM Portland’s “Waking Crew” in 1987 and was there for nine years. He worked for several Chicago stations during the 1970s.

Former FOX 13/KCPQ morning anchor, Jade Elliott, left the eastern Washington home base back in August. Jade is now Events and Communications Manager @ United Way of Benton & Franklin Counties (as of Oct 2024).

Former hostess of KING 5’s New Day Northwest, Margaret Larson, has returned to the Puget Sound area. Don’t expect to see her on tv on a regular basis. Larson insists that she is fully retired.

Educational Media Foundation has filed a $300,000 deal to buy “97.7 Country” KTPI, Mojave, CA. EMF already owns four FMs in the Bakersfield market. OMG!

There was a little good news from PNW radio veteran, Marco Collins, over the holiday, “After 5 yrs in remission, I’m officially done. I’m lucky to live in Seattle & have been cared for by one of the best cancer treatment centers on the planet. I wouldn’t be here w/o them.”

  • Congratulations to Jade on her new role. One of the few professionals that Q13 let slip away from the anchor desk. KCPQ could surely use someone of her caliber for their weekend morning newscast. Or should I say lovefest.
