  • Associated Press reports that Major League Baseball will use robot umpires next season. Humans will still call balls and strikes. No word on who/which will dust off the plate.

    • A baseball umpire's job is to officiate the game by enforcing the rules and making impartial decisions on plays, ensuring fair play and maintaining order. Umpires are responsible for calling balls and strikes, outs and safes, fair or foul balls, and for monitoring player behavior. They must have a deep knowledge of the rules, maintain composure under pressure, and possess keen vision and communication skills to manage the game effectively.

  • Kamala Harris, speaking on Maddow/MSDNC. Describing Trump as a “dictator” and “tyrant.” Says “we must fight fire with fire.” Dangerous rhetoric at any time, but 12 days after the assassination of Charlie Kirk, ghoulish by both host and guest. Just shocking irresponsibility. Harris' political career is OVER anyway. Perhaps she will land a gig on MSNOW next year.

  • Visitors to the studio or those strange calls from listeners, strange moments when you need to be alert. I've had a few prank calls, such as the time the FCC called to tell me the tower lights were too bright for airline pilots, and the girls that propositioned me over the phone. They were fooled by the sound of my voice and I had no idea what was on the other end of the line. Something between Tuesday Weld and Phyllis Diller.

    • Disc jockeys should conceal-carry anyway. Being out in public that often, there is a greater chance there could be trouble.

      • At KAYO we parked by the side door. I was issued a key, not that it mattered, because the door wouldn't close unless you ran at it and slammed your shoulder into it. So it was never locked. Anybody could come in. Sometimes they did.

I was doing Saturdays six to midnight. Around 11:00 one night, three or four half drunk guys came in. The control room didn't have a door and in they came. They were on their way to hang out at KRAB where Tiny Freeman did an all night bluegrass show powered by assorted illegal drugs, and just thought they'd drop by.

Another Saturday about ten after six, Wanda Jackson was belting "Let's Have a Party" and I was pre-reading some serious copy about a revival meeting, and wondering how to segue from Wanda's screams.

Then I heard loud talking, four people appeared, and the guy in front yelled, "You rented my house!" He was my landlord when I worked at KGEZ in Kalispell and I hadn't seen him in five years. They were all drunk and we had cheerful hugs and howdys. Wanda's record ended and I was laughing so much I couldn't read the revival spot so I just hit a jingle and into another record. I hoped I wouldn't get in trouble for moving a commercial to the next quarter hour.

Then I got another shift, Sunday afternoons. First day, the phone rang and I heard, "Hi sexy, this is Tina. How are you doing today?" She called me every time I was on.

Months later, I looked up to find a woman standing there holding a fifth of gin. The woman handed me the bottle and said, "Hi, I'm Carla. This is my daughter Tina." Tina looked all of fourteen. Sure glad I behaved myself on the phone.

    • A pleasant and appealing actor, best known for his roles in Adam 12 and Route 66, roles which ironically had him acting behind the steering wheel of a car.

      • I just started drinking coffee again. Maybe it will open my eyes a bit more.
        Martin Milner died in 2015.
I saw him in an episode of Columbo the other day and Valley of the Dolls.
I never missed an episode of Adam-12.

        • On September 6, 2015, Martin Milner died of heart failure at his home in Carlsbad, California, at the age of 83. A memorial service was held by law enforcement and community members six days later. Additionally, to further honor Martin, the Los Angeles Police Reserve Foundation posted a badge online bearing a black band and the number of Officer Pete Malloy.

  • This was game-show running from 1969-1972, televised over KTNT 11. MOVIE GAME featured guest stars such as: Vincent Price, Stefanie Powers, David Janssen, Shelley Berman, Burgess Meredith, Robert Stack and dozens of others. I can't say that I ever watched this. The show was hosted by Sonny Fox (first 6 months), then by Larry Blyden.
