After 30 years in the broadcast industry, KOMO TV anchor Brad Goode is leaving the business to join the finance industry. Goode will be joining Washington Federal, Inc. as a senior vice president for communications in mid October. He will leave KOMO in about two weeks after tying up loose ends. He has been with the station for about five years. Goode has anchored morning news for 17 years between KOMO and other stations. BIZJOURNAL
Also at KOMO 4, the husband wife team of Suzanne Phan [joining KOMO-TV as a reporter for the 5, 6 and 11 p.m. news Tuesday through Sunday. From KXTV Sacramento, where she reported for seven years] and Ryan Yamamoto, also from KXTV, who is handling weekend/reporting duties at KOMO.
Hubbard radio KVRQ ROCK 98-9 (Classic Rock) has brought Joe “Jeetz” Reder back from Anchorage to host afternoons. Jeetz was formerly with KISW and KHTP, both Seattle, before leaving for KZND Anchorage Alternative KZND. He comes most recently from KXTE Las Vegas where he was part of a morning team.
Marriage can be a roller coaster at times, but a twist on that idea occurred Monday when KPLZ morning host Kent Philips, an ordained minister, officiated some sky-high nuptials from a coaster car behind Taylor Weaver and Kevin Slaughter. Radio weddings are not new, but this is certainly unique. One of the earliest weddings on radio happened in the 1920s between an employee of KMO Tacoma and his blushing bride. Listeners only imagined she was blushing, as this was long before television.
