The Club Random Studios network (the name is derived from Maher’s Club Random podcast), will seek to host podcasts built on an idea of “freedom of expression,” the late night host tells The Hollywood Reporter.

“I am looking for people who are not talking-point people. I’m looking for people who don’t, before they speak, say, ‘What’s the right answer here?’” Maher added.

The first podcast on the network, which Maher is backing alongside co-creators Chris Case and Chuck LaBella, will be hosted by Sage Steele, the former ESPN SportsCenter anchor who parted ways with the channel last year after settling a free speech lawsuit. Steele filed the suit alleging retaliation after she made controversial comments about the COVID-19 vaccine mandates on a podcast hosted by Jay Cutler. (The Hollywood Reporter)

  • Maher is becoming less woke and sometimes makes a statement that I can agree with. As podcast networks are becoming a thing, this venture might be one to watch. Steven Crowder's Mug Club offered a series of podcast hosts initially. That number has dwindled as podcasters there may be slacking. Mug Club offers a membership program and includes advertiser mentions during podcasts. That seems to be standard for these podcast networks.
